Obituary for Wayne G. Johnston
Johnston, Wayne G. Sr. -78 of Munster Township, passed away on December 17, 2017 at the VA Home in Pittsburgh. He was born on October 14, 1939 in Ashville. He was the son of Roy T. and Rosella I. (McNamee) Johnston. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, his infant son, Patrick and his brother, Carroll.
He is survived by his son: Wayne G. Johnston, Jr. and these siblings: Signa Johnston, Madeline wife of Faber Conrad, Sr.; Rita Yglesias; Mary Ellen wife of Harry Reed; Gertrude Marchese; Roy P. Johnston; Bridget wife of Guillermo Gonzalez; William Johnston; Vera wife of Robert Keefe and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wayne was a 1962 graduate of the Annapolis Naval Academy. He served his Country as a Naval Officer and a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Portage Amvets Post# 150, the Portage Legion Post# 430, the Portage VFW Post #895, the Disabled American Veterans, the US Naval Academy Alumni Association and the Naval Reserve Association. He was an avid fisherman and he was a member of T.A.P.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Thursday at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home Inc. of Portage. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Portage, 509 Caldwell Avenue, Fr. Andrew Draper, Celebrant. Committal in St. Bartholomew Church Cemetery in Wilmore.
