Obituary for Kenneth E. Sossong
Sossong, Kenneth E. - 88 of Portage, passed away on January 26, 2020. He was born on April 21, 1931 in Portage. He was the son of Anthony and Gertrude (Enderlein) Sossong. He is preceded in death by his parents, nephews Randy and Ryan Davis, nieces Shari Davis and Myra (Sossong) Kanter and sisters-in-law Lolita and Geraldine Sossong. Ken is survived by his daughters Maria and husband Lou Kordish, Melodie and husband Dave Brunett, Lisa and husband James Barron, Lin and husband Ray Scarton and his son, Kenneth R. Sossong. He is also survived by grandchildren Heidi (Russ Haynes) and Matt (Ann Heinrich) Kordish, Daniel (Krista Park), Morgan and Jaimie Barron and Dylan (Melisa Casalla), Megan (Tanner Hirstine) and Stuart Scarton. Greatgrandchildren include Hannah Haynes, Camilla Barron and Louis, Catherine, Elsie, Matthew and Jonathan Kordish. Surviving siblings include brothers Ronald, Anthony, Thomas (Hilda Borlie), Raymond (Vicki Berkheimer), Robert (Fran Popchak), and sisters Agnes (David Nolan), Shirley (Ron Davis) and Kathleen (Bill Bickleman). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ken attended Penn State University and graduated from Saint Francis College with a Bachelor of Science Degree. After working as a pharmaceutical rep with Pfizer for 24 years, he retired and enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. Many will remember Ken from his pitching skills playing in a number of fast pitch softball leagues in the area. Viewing will be private to the family. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 31st, 2020 at 10 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 509 Caldwell Avenue in Portage, Fr. Thomas Stabile, Celebrant. Committal will be private to the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 2595 Interstate Dr Ste 100, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 17110.
