Obituary for Marcelle A. Cooney
Cooney, Marcelle A., 88 of Munster Township, Cresson, died from complications from surgery on September 24, 2021 in Altoona. She was born on June 5, 1933 in Altoona. Marcelle was the daughter of Louis and Josephine Panek. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul A. Cooney, whom she married May 12, 1955, together they were happily married for 63 years. Marcelle is also preceded in death by her daughter: Cindy Cooney, her brother: Tom Panek and her sister: Monica Maslyar.
Marcelle is survived by her loving daughters: Patty Cooney of Arizona and Joi (Beverly) Cooney of Loretto, PA. She is also survived by her special friends: Mary Kozak and Carol Noon.
Marcelle enjoyed traveling with her husband and entertaining family and friends. She was a member of Our Lady of the Alleghenies Church in Lilly and a past president of the Lilly American Legion Post # 628 Ladies Auxillary. Marcelle was a former registered nurse and caregiver and she was always there to lend a helping hand and volunteer when needed.
The Cooney Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the time of Funeral Mass from 12PM until time of Mass at 1 PM on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Our Lady of the Alleghenies Church in Lilly, Fr. Matthew Reese, Celebrant. Committal will be private to the immediate family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Marcelle’s name to Our Lady of the Alleghenies Church, 608 Main Street, Lilly, PA 15938 and/or The Lilly American Legion, 214 Jones Street, Lilly, PA 15938.
