Obituary for Marlene J. Chappell
Chappell, Marlene J. – 89 of Conroe, TX, formerly of Martindale, PA, passed away on December 14, 2022 in Conroe, TX. She was born on January 12, 1933 in Clymer, PA. Marlene was the daughter of Mack and Jessie Croyle. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Robert J. Chappell, Sr., her daughter: Diane Chappell, her grandson: Jason Boast, her great grandson: Micah Webb and numerous siblings.
Marlene is survived by her children: Raymond Chappell (Deneen) of Punxsuntawney, PA; Patricia Boast (Keith) of Portage, PA; Gail Reed (James) of Haymarket, VA; David Chappell of Portage; Christine Pinos (William) of Portage; Jeffrey Chappell of Houston, TX and Robert Chappell, Jr. of Hollidaysburg, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Yvette Sanders (Allen); James Reed (Barbara); Deanna Ritchey (Aaron); Raymond Reed (Stacey); Carla Webb (Nathan); William Pinos, Jr. (Carrie); Nadine Bryan (Brock) and 18 Great Grandchildren.
Marlene was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Marlene was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a mother figure to all who walked into her home, including the neighbor’s dog whom she would frequently give tasty treats with each visit to her door. Marlene enjoyed warm, sunny days sitting in her rocking chair on the patio. She loved Jesus, her friends, and her family. She would stop at nothing to ensure everyone’s needs were met and loved celebrating their birthdays. When people entered her home, they were greeted by her beaming blue eyes and her warm smile. She will forever be remembered for her Saturday morning pancakes, chicken paprika, homemade bread and a pot full of coffee.
Most of all, she is remembered for her servant's heart that continues to warm the hearts of her family, whom she treasured above all else.
Family will receive friends from 10AM until 12 PM Funeral Service on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the Martindale Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Committal will be held at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Blue Knob, PA. The Chappell Family is being served by the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. in Portage.
