Obituary for Janet J. Poorman
Poorman, Janet J. of Portage, passed away at home on January 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Dean Township, PA. Janet was the daughter of Paul and Claire (Burley) Riggleman. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lester D. Poorman, her son, Thomas A. Williams and her grandsons, Jason T. Williams and Terrence L. White. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Paul, Wayne, Bob, Jim, Gary, Tom, Ray, Ron, Shirley and Pat.
Janet is survived by her loving children, James A. Williams of TX, Cathy L. wife of Terry White of Portage, Joseph R. Williams and wife Donna (Chappell) of TX, Kimberly K. wife of Terry Seaman, Jr. of Portage and stepson, Mark Poorman and wife Michele (Vena) of Portage. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Janet was the sister of Joann Brown, Larry Riggleman and his wife Carol, Terry Riggleman and wife Lois, Sharon McCloskey and Paula wife of Jim Imler.
Janet was a member of the Portage Alliance Church. Janet lovingly devoted her time to family and provided a welcoming love to them all. She greatly enjoyed cooking, and the family will fondly remember gathering for the large meals at Christmas, Thanksgiving, and 4th of July. Although she enjoyed all the gatherings, you could see the sparkle in her eyes when she said, “Christmas is my favorite time of the year”. Janet also enjoyed music and dancing and had many Saturday morning dance sessions with her daughters while cleaning the house.

The Poorman Family would like to thank Dr. Mark Ratchford and Dr. Samir Hadeed and their staffs, Molly McGuire, CRNP and Aseracare Hospice for all the love and care that they had given to Janet.
