Obituary for Ida June Costlow
Costlow, Ida "June" (Brunnet) - 91 of Lilly. Passed away February 14, 2012 at Altoona Regional Hospital. Born April 24, 1920 in Portage. The daughter of Sophia (Schneider) and Louis Brunnet. Preceded in death by parents, husband Edward, daughter-in-law Janet (Hershel) Costlow, sisters Goldie, Ethel; brothers Robert, Lester, Clyde and Louis. Survived by children: Victor Costlow and wife Laura (Ruffing) of Cresson; Edward Costlow and wife Pat (Filby) of Centerville; Vera married to Bob Hufford, of Lilly; Elva married to Dave Lutton of Duncansville; Jolie married to Alex Dipko, Jr. of Portage; Clyde Costlow and wife Bev (Henry) of Lilly; Dusty married to Ken Shultz of Maple City, Mich; Ray Costlow and companion Patty De Marco, of New Market, MD; Rev. Donald Costlow and wife Rev. Beth (Crogan) of Sheffield, PA and Ronald Costlow and wife Nancy (Blough) of Jerome. Sister of Dorothy Priebe of FL and Phyllis Tucker of Ohio. Also survived by 27 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, making 80 direct descendants, 12 step grandchildren, 19 great step grandchildren and 4 great great step grandchildren. A 1938 graduate of the former Portage Township Highschool, where she received an award for never missing a day of school for 12 years. June enjoyed traveling. She was retired from Penn Cambria Primary sSchool from food services after 23 years. She was a former organist, pianist and Sunday school teacher at St. Lukes Lutheran Church of Lilly, former member of the American Legion Ladies Auxillary of Lilly, a volunteer of the Foster Grandparents Program at the Penn Cambria Primary School and Children Express in Cresson for a number of years. June also served as the pianist for the Gospel Singers Group at the Portage Senior Activity Center. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Friday at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc, Portage. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10AM at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Lilly. Committal will be held at Prospect Cemetery in Portage. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Junes name to the Organ Fund at St. Lukes Lutheran Church, 604 Cleveland Street, Lilly, PA 15938.
